Piotr Davydtchenko was born in 1961 in Kustanai (Kazakhstan). He studied art at the junior college in Nizhny Tagil from 1976 to 1980. Several years after graduation Davydtchenko decided to further his education at the Repin Institute in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). He was accepted into the prestigious school and from 1984 to 1990 he studied at the Institute with the studio of profesor E. E. Moiseyenko.
The artist started participating in exhibitions in 1978, showing in Nizhny Tagil, Tyumen', Sverdlovsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg. While in school, Davydtchenko received an award in the country-wide competition called "My Land" in 1988. His favorite genre are landscape, still life and portrait. His works are included in private collections in Germany, France, England, the United States, Canada, and Australia. In 1992 he worked for a time in Sacramento, California, becoming quite popular in the short time he was there. Currently Davydtchenko lives in St. Petersburg. He is a member of the Artists Union of Russia.
Davydtchenko's work shows a wonderfully refined technique. He strives to capture the ethereal beauty of light in his watercolor and gouache paintings. In the stillness of his landscapes, light is the dynamic factor. It expresses the mood and creates emotion.
